Our decision to make the move from Alabama to Santa Barbara was a pivotal moment in our lives. It all began with a moment of clarity as Dan and I drove into Carpinteria, captivated by the mountains and the expanse of the ocean. In that instant, we knew we were meant to call this place home. The decision to uproot our lives and move across the country was met with uncertainty, but a deep sense of knowingness guided us forward. Selling everything and embracing the unknown was daunting, but the allure of a life in Santa Barbara and the opportunity to explore new horizons was too compelling to ignore. With a bit of faith and the support of loved ones, we embarked on a journey that would forever change our lives.

From Window Coverings to Outdoor Living

Our journey in the design industry began long before Pampel Design took shape. Dan's family business in window coverings laid the groundwork for our expertise in the field. Upon arriving in Santa Barbara, we wasted no time in diving headfirst into the local market. While Dan honed his skills as a subcontractor, I explored opportunities in the outdoor industry. A chance encounter with a representative from KE, a renowned outdoor shade company, paved the way for our foray into the world of awnings and outdoor living solutions. In January 2017, Pampel Design was born, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our entrepreneurial journey.

Starting a business in California presented its fair share of challenges, but we met each obstacle with resilience and determination. With the guidance of SCORE, a nonprofit organization, we navigated the complexities of entrepreneurship and laid the groundwork for our business's success. Setting up our first showroom on State Street was a pivotal moment, offering us the opportunity to showcase our products and establish our presence in the local community.
